[This sound piece overlaps and interacts with snippets of “After Going Out” (page 32 in Blissful Times; “2/” above), examining the emotions and possibilities of sound. San rhythmically repeats the “ire” sound from “gunfire”, then repeats and remixes “Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Ireland” (“1/”). This leads into exploration of different sounds of the letter “i”: long I’s and short I’s alternate, repeat and undulate, changing rhythm and speed. They build and build, and eventually reach an emotional crescendo that could be orgasm or pain, and becomes hyperventilation and panic. At the end, San whispers the words “Ipperwash. Caledonia. Canada.” In both versions, a second layer of San’s voice is added, echoing themself. In the Zorras version, another voice also joins, primarily making anxious gulping sounds; there’s also cajón following and contrasting San’s rhythm.]
